How to reach moral clarity in Gaza
I love the holy land . I’ve been coming here since 1983 and I’ve met beautiful people everywhere with amazing stories to tell and great hospitality to share . It never ceases to inspire and reenergise me .
I think everyone who knows this land well would agree . But there’s also a dark side to it as well . There’s history and there’s culture tradition and there’s also plain ego . As a Jerusalem peacemaker who imitated many projects in the region it’s been close to my heart to see a solution to an age old question that still plagued the mist learned scholar and the most adept politician . Many of the stories like the truth has been obscured over time and it seems impossible to come to a point of moral clarity over the most difficult question … what to do about Gaza - Palestine and the right of Israel to exist in what is to the Jewish people the promised land . We can go over the facts carefully and see that philistinia ( dwellers of the coast )- which was renamed by Herodotus ( Assyria Palestinian)and then the romans in the first century -
“As Palestine “ as a punishment to the rebellious province the romans occupied at the time … still remains . One could blame the United Nations for creating a separate refugee agency or winston Churchill for not doing what he did in India and Pakistan but kicking the can down the road once again … or we could blame the Rothchilds for the Balfour declaration or the many invaders and occupiers - even the crusaders and their Quest to be forgiven of all their sins by the pope . The list goes on . You could also blame Herzl the father of modern Zionism or the Christian’s who inspired him . You could even blame America and Britain or even Jesus and the founder of Islam .
Yet throughout the ages pilgrims of these 3 central faiths have come to Jerusalem to make prayers for the peace of Jerusalem in this religious Disneyland … and gone home satisfied that their pleas before God were heard . People still come here and will continue to do so . Moshe Dayan on taking the Temple Mount also could not occupy this mist holiest of Jewish sites and returned the keys to the mufti. Even he didn’t want the responsibility .
In recent times Ariel Sharon triggered an intifada by declaring it would always belong to the Jewish nation yet even he somehow after building a wall of separation went into and died in a coma lasting over 7 years . How then should we truly look at the scriptures and interpret them properly ? How then should we find MORAL CLARITY to give a political solution to this age old question ?
In Judaic wisdom despite certain examples such as the mass suicide at Masada on the Dead Sea .. and the holocaust itself … LIFE is the highest ethical difference between jihadists and Jews . Christians also have the baptism of martyrdom but it is not a choice made by will but rather by circumstance . The security mistakes of October 7 th massacre are squarely the responsibility of mr Netanyahu . Yes the head of the security services resigned but no real investigation or commission has been made to determine the causes that led to the gross failure of security on that day . On Israel’s holiest day it was attacked before and on October 7 it was attacked again .
Weapons that should have never been smuggled through tunnels from Egypt and on ships from abroad should never have been let through by the Egyptian police and army . We can go on . But all this is known publicly . As a result of this security and philosophical failure three promises were made :
-1. We will return the hostages ( which is priority one )
2. We will destroy the military capability of Hamas .
3 . We will never allow this to happen again or be repeated so that young soldiers die on the front line needlessly .
But all 3 of these promises after one year has not been kept . Gaza has been destroyed and most of Hamas and its terror tunnels .
The smuggling line ( the 14 km Philadelphia corridor ) has been secured - but there are still nearly 100 hostages suffering every moment of every day in the most terrible of conditions - not to mention those in the Gaza Strip who have said - let me live or let me die - they don’t care anymore . The bombs and the bullets come and tunnels are cleared - and this war of attrition goes on and has escalated to the northern border leaving over 60000 Israeli refugees and missiles are feign fired each day by the houtis in Yemen - sometimes by the financier of this evil - Iran and its other proxies like hisbollah ( party of god ) who are well stocked .
But this is not the story I want to talk about . This is what you can read in the news or see on YouTube and the empty promises that are made each day with every win and every loss .
It is the fact that somehow something have to change . Somehow the right to self determination and the territorial imperative of all the parties have to be recognised . Or not ? Throughout history it has been proven that a weaker foe can defeat a stronger one through attrition .
The Vietnamese did it through their tunnel strategy as did the Russians to the Germans and the afghans to both the soviets and the American coalition . Iraq and Libya despite its liberation is still A mess .

No what is needed is a shift in consciousness . In the total it says in genesis I will bless those who bless you ( the seed of Isaac) and I will curse those who curse you ( some translations say that it is my LIGHT that I will shine so brightly that it will blind you . The prayers that are said each day on the wailing wall to rebuild king Solomon’s temple and to end enmity between Ishmael and Isaac between Muslims and Jews will somehow end . But how do you negotiate with terrorists ? How do you end the deadlock of hatred ?
How do you forgive each other ? How do you reconcile the enormous grievous sins of one to the other? How do you simply live and let live ?
For starters any solution in the Middle East any political solution needs a SPIRITUAL one too. As a rainbow warrior light worker believer in Christ and a humanitarian I see only one way - that is we must build this temple of man within us - this one new man in messiah and turn from religion to spirituality - true spirituality not fake . True humanity not false humanity and to true EMPATHY not forced compassion .
In the words of one nazi concentration survivor - a woman - “ I had to force myself to forgive the guard who killed my sister - but I knew in my heart that the only way to rebuild my life was to forgive my enemy!”
And this is how we learn moral clarity . The Jewish nation has survived and thrived throughout the ages by never forgetting the lessons of the past but never living in the mistakes of them . LIFE despite the highest of costs is the Highest morality . It is not by blaming that we win this war but by taking responsibility and moving in this direction and creating a NEW narrative and a new earth wellness reality .
It is not by hiding our heads in the sand . In the words of one sage - we are not born to hate but rather we are TAUGHT TO HATE !
I often thought in the last year that 42 years of giving of living and of praying - of trying to make peace after October 7 was a complete waste of time . That nobody is going to learn to live together ever . That we have fought for self determination for 4000 years since we left Egypt - and we will continue to fight for another 4000 until the messiah returns .
Or something will happen to ALL of us so that we begin to realise our selfishness and ego our greed and our fears - our prejudice and our pain- our trauma and our wrong thinking - our sins and our deep traumas will never be healed from this forever war .
And this brings me to my moral clarity .
1. The hostages must come home now - at any cost !
2. The violence must stop and to this end both parties must recognise the right to exist of the other on planet Earth .
3. A land commission should determine -with the help
Of Egyptians - Jordanians - Lebanese - British - Americans -Turkey Israelis and any other interested party - not in the United Nations but in a place like Sharm El Sheikh or Dubai what is an equitable solution for all .
Mandela once said - and I remember it well - “ throw your weapons into the sea - an eye for an eye will make the world blind “
And Chicco Twala - another South African also said “ humankind must put an end to war - or WAR will put an end to humankind ! “
Is there a solution that we can reach before the return of Jesus in 4000 years ?
Does this war have to escalate to feed a whole industry built on the misery of others ? The answer is no .
The hawks have tried and they have failed to provide the final solution . Perhaps it’s time again for the doves to try their very best to stop this madness .
One way or another by the end of this year the people on both sides of the fence must reach a moral clarity that gives hope to all in the region . The highest vibration is not divine live but oneness . We can do better together sometimes with honey instead of vinegar .
There is a time for war but there’s always a time for peace . There’s always a time for LIFE and this is the highest ethic not just of the smartest Jewish sage but also of the sanest human being . It’s time to end this war now and bring the hostages home . What happens after is another story that like each day begins with the sunrise and ends with the sunset .
Our job is simply not to give up Or to Lose hope - to win this war we must win the war within ourselves .
Much love to you all — BRING THEM HOME NOW !- this is not a Masada moment ! END THIS WAR !
Xxxx Robin
